Trigger Point Therapy
At Spinefit we practice a little known form of dry needling that has been termed Advanced Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy.
With this therapy, we target specifically injured muscles which have become contracted and shortened from trauma or prolonged postural overload. These shortened muscles cause pain not only in the affected muscle itself, but also from the resulting stress on surrounding tendons and joints. Our therapy causes the muscle to grasp the small needle that we use which causes the muscle to release providing long term pain relief.
Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS) is muscle pain mostly caused by inflammation in the body's soft tissues. The fascia is the connective tissue that covers the muscles and the sometimes chronic MPS condition can affect either a single muscle or a muscle group.
Trigger Point Therapy as the name suggests identifies those specific areas of the muscle and surrounding tissues that are treated by a variety of means necessary including massage and Dry Needling which reduces muscle tension and normalizes dysfunctions of the sites at which nerve impulses are transmitted to the muscles.
The identification and resolution of trigger points is at the mainstay of what we do here at Spinefit.
